Terms and Conditions

Effective 21 October 2026

These Terms and Conditions are the agreement between you and Wanderer for the Wanderer mobile application on Google Play and the Apple App Store. By creating an account, signing in, or starting Wanderer Pro, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy.

1. Who may use Wanderer

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You must give a real email address that you can open, and you must be able to agree to these Terms yourself. One person, one account. You are responsible for the password and for what is done with the account.

2. The service

Wanderer gives you short real-world quests near your location. You complete a quest by going there and verifying it, usually with a photo and your live GPS position. Approved completions earn Explorer Rating, can extend a streak, and can unlock badges. Leaderboards, a collection of your quests, and a public profile are part of the service. Maps, place names, and quest text depend on outside map and place data and can be wrong or missing. Wanderer may change, pause, or remove a feature, a quest, or a place.

3. Accounts

Sign-up is by email and password. If confirmation is required, the account is not active until you open the confirmation link. You can reset a forgotten password from the sign-in screen. Open that link on the phone that asked for it. You can change your password, display name, username, bio, and home city while signed in. You can delete the account from Profile. The account is then deleted 14 days later, with your profile, quests, photos, streak, and Explorer Rating; signing back in before then keeps it. Deletion does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription. Cancel that in the store first if you do not want to be billed again.

4. Quests and verification

Complete a quest at the place it describes. Wanderer checks your live position when you submit, and may also read the location and time stored in the photo. If those disagree, if the photo looks reused, or if the quest cannot be checked automatically, a person reviews it. Explorer Rating is awarded only after the completion is approved. A rejection does not award rating. You must follow the law and the rules of the place you visit, including private property, opening hours, tickets, and local restrictions. Wanderer does not grant you permission to enter any place.

5. Your safety

Quests take you outdoors. Roads, weather, water, crowds, and terrain are your responsibility. Look up from the screen while you walk. Do not attempt a quest that is unsafe for you. Wanderer does not supervise you, does not provide emergency services, and is not a navigation or safety device. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and text you submit. You give Wanderer permission to store them, to show them to you, and to show a photo to a moderator when a completion needs review. Verification photos are not placed on the public leaderboard and are not used to train a public model. Your username, display name, bio, streak, Explorer Rating, and badges can be visible to other explorers on your public profile. Do not submit a photo of someone else unless you have their permission, and do not submit anything you do not have the right to share.

7. Explorer Rating, streaks, and badges

Explorer Rating, streaks, badges, and leaderboard position are earned inside the app. They have no cash value, are not your property, and cannot be bought, sold, or transferred. Wanderer may correct a rating, streak, or badge that was awarded by mistake, by a bug, or by a completion that did not meet these Terms. A streak freeze keeps a streak from breaking. It does not add Explorer Rating. Pro does not change how rating is calculated.

8. Wanderer Pro

Wanderer Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. A new account may start one 7-day Pro trial. That trial is granted by Wanderer, is free, and does not charge a card. It can be used once per account. After the trial, or if you subscribe immediately, Pro is billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store at 4.99 US dollars per month or 29.99 US dollars per year, before tax, or the local price the store shows on the paywall. The store charges your store account when you confirm the purchase and again at the start of each renewal period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel the subscription in the store account that you used to buy it. Deleting your Wanderer account does not cancel the store subscription, and a refund is decided by the store under its own refund rules.

9. What Pro includes

While Pro is active, you can re-roll the daily quest without the free daily limit of 3, receive one streak freeze back at the start of each month after you have used one, save up to 12 quests for 14 days instead of 3 quests for 7 days, use the Forest and Dusk profile accents, send a challenge asking another explorer to finish a quest within 48 hours, and have a flagged photo reviewed before non-Pro photos. A challenge does not pay bonus Explorer Rating. Free accounts can still receive a challenge, complete quests, earn rating, and use the Classic accent. If Pro ends, those extra limits return to the free limits. Quests you already finished stay finished.

10. Acceptable use

Do not submit a photo you did not take for that quest, pretend to be somewhere you are not, spoof your location, reuse another person’s completion, harass or threaten another explorer, or use the app to break the law. Do not attempt to break, scrape, overload, or reverse engineer the service except where the law expressly allows it. Do not create an account for someone who is not allowed to use Wanderer, and do not share your password.

11. Moderation

Wanderer may refuse, delay, or remove a completion, a photo, a username, or a profile that breaks these Terms or that cannot be verified. Moderators see the quest, the photo, the reason it was flagged, and the capture location. The same verification rules apply to every account. An active Pro member’s flagged photo is ordered first in the review queue. That does not change the outcome.

12. Privacy

The Privacy Policy describes what Wanderer stores and why. It is part of these Terms. Location is used to find nearby quests and to check a completion. It is not published on the leaderboard. Wanderer does not sell personal information.

13. Intellectual property

The Wanderer name, the app, the quest system, and the visual design of the app belong to Wanderer. Map tiles, place names, and other third-party material remain the property of their owners. These Terms do not give you any right in those materials beyond using the app as it is offered.

14. Availability

Wanderer is provided as it is available. Quests, maps, places, leaderboards, and Pro features can be interrupted by maintenance, by a failure of a phone, network, map provider, or app store, or by a change to the service. Wanderer does not promise that a particular place will have a quest, that a quest will stay available until you finish it, or that the service will be error-free.

15. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, Wanderer is provided without a warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of places and maps, or uninterrupted access. Nothing in these Terms removes a right you have as a consumer that the law does not allow a contract to remove, including rights from Google Play or the Apple App Store in your country.

16. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Wanderer is not liable for injury, loss, or damage that happens while you travel to or attempt a quest, for a decision you make from map or place information, for a completion that is rejected, or for Explorer Rating, streaks, or badges that are corrected. Wanderer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, rating, or goodwill, beyond what the law requires. If Wanderer is liable for a Pro charge, that liability is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the three months before the claim, unless the law requires more. Apple is not responsible for the app or for these Terms. Google is not responsible for the app or for these Terms. A claim about a store charge is handled with that store.

17. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Wanderer and delete your account at any time from Profile. Wanderer may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that is used to cheat, or that creates a risk to other people. If an account is closed for those reasons, unused Pro time is not refunded by Wanderer. Any refund of a store charge is decided by the store. Sections that should survive, including content rights already granted, disclaimers, and liability, continue to apply.

18. Changes

Wanderer may update these Terms when the service changes or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this screen is the date of the current version. If you keep using Wanderer after the new Terms are shown in the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, stop using Wanderer and delete the account. A change to the price of Pro is shown by the store before the next renewal, and the store’s rules for price changes apply.

19. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to wandererapp.support@gmail.com. If you are signed in, you can also send them from Profile, then Feedback, and choose Account or Pro.

20. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement for the use of Wanderer. If a store’s terms conflict with these Terms on billing, cancellation, or refunds, the store’s terms control that payment. If one sentence of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where you live. Mandatory consumer rules in that country, and the mandatory rules of the store you used, still apply.
